To (technically) manage the model development and the collaboration of the different ICON development teams a group of “Gatekeepers” has been established. See https://gitlab.dkrz.de/icon/wiki/-/wikis/ICON-groups-and-gatekeeper for the list of groups and gatekeepers.

They have special access rights to their repositories and take care in case of conflicts with other groups' work. Usually they are the only ones allowed to merge code in their groups' main development branch. Only gatekeepers are allowed to merge into the common repository.

Regular meetings of the gatekeepers take place twice a year during the 'ICON Developers Meeting'
