Documentation for ICON has been created for different purposes including model description, scientific performance or tutorials, and in various forms, for instance peer reviewed articles, “Reports for ICON”, or Wiki pages in project web pages. This fragmented documentation is difficult to use, and thus we wonder how to improve the situation. The following steps should lead us to a documentation that suites our needs and expectations.

1. Differentiate between different kinds of documentation –> Kinds of model documentation
