====== Set up your new MacBook ====== The first time your MacBook Pro starts up, a Setup Assistant walks you through the simple steps needed to start using your new Mac. Be sure to connect your Macbook to our Network using an Ethernet cable, as a network connection is needed for the setup. For accessing the wireless networks MPIM and eduroam you need to install a mobileconfig file for OS X (after the initial setup). A detailed version can be found [[local_it:network:wireless:apple_macos|here]]. ===== Get an Apple ID ===== Your Apple ID is the account you use for everything you do with Apple - including using the App Store, the iTunes Store, iCloud, Messages, and software updates. Your Apple ID consists of an email address and a password. You need only one Apple ID to use any Apple service.\\ **If you don't already have an Apple ID, you can create one using your MPI Email Address.** ===== Configure Wi-Fi ===== For accessing the wirless networks //MPIM// and //eduroam// you first need to finish the initial setup on your Macbook and download a mobileconfig file. ==== Download Mobileconfig ==== You can download the mobileconfig either from our Wiki (Tools and Software -> Network -> Wireless -> Wireless Apple Mac OS X) or you can visit [[https://cat.eduroam.org/]] if you are not connected to our network. ==== Install Mobileconfig ==== Click on the downloaded mobileconfig file to start the installation.
